The Bookshop Project

The Bookshop Project is a program for published writers. We know that every book that’s worth reading has cost its writer years and years of work, and we know that the first months of a book’s life may be the only time it can hope to be placed centre stage - and even then it will very likely be one of a crowd with a celebrity performer grabbing all the attention. We’re presenting books that have been around for a while to a readership that might well have missed that first performance entirely. And in our project each book will have the necessary but all too rare opportunity to play solo, writer and reader going deeply into the marvelous conversation that a good book always is.

There will be three bookshops: The Poetry Bookshop, The Regional Writer Bookshop and ReReadings. Every fortnight in The Reader Conversation there will be a bookshop presentation. Each writer will select a bookseller and that bookseller will be well subsidized to send the book anywhere in Australia postage-free and at a substantial discount.

We’ll be telling you all about The Bookshop Project midway through our foundation year.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands upon which we work and live. We pay our respects to Elders, past, present and future, as well as all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples – their Country, Culture, and Community.
